Body Shop Mania!

Its no secret that Body Shop products are a favourite among Beauty bloggers and Youtubers. I have read countless reviews about their body butters but hadn’t tried any of them myself until recently. I was on the hunt for a rich moisturizer to get my dry dehydrated skin looking plump and well hydrated. So I finally jumped on the bandwagon and decided to try a couple of their body butters. Somehow I ended up all of these products in my basket: all thanks to their friendly staff and storewide discount. I have incorporated all of these products into my current routine and I will be doing in depth reviews of each of these in my upcoming blog posts. But for now let me just say I’m a convert!

Essie’s ‘Matte About You’

I own a quite a few nail polishes… err… actually, a little more than ‘quite a few’. Even then my heart skips a beat every time I spot matte finish polishes, especially the ones from Topshop’s Matte nails range. Just when I decided to pick up a few, I came across Essie’s ‘Matte about you’.

What is it? It’s a matte top coat with the consistency of a regular nail polish. A single coat of this transforms any polish into a perfect matte finish. All you have to do is apply your base color, wait for it to dry completely and then use ‘matte about you’ as your top coat. It goes on clear & glossy but within 15-20 seconds of application, you can see your nails turn into a matte finish. And you know what the best part is? It is dry to the touch within a couple of minutes. The manicure lasts for a couple of days. I did notice some chipping on the 3rd day, but that is usually the case for me with other nail polishes as well.

I have been using it an awful lot these days and I must say, I’m loving it. I hardly ever go though an entire bottle of nail polish but I am hoping this matte top coat changes that as it gives me a chance to sport different looks using the same nail polish. It costs US$10, which makes buying a bottle of this more economical than adding a ton of matte polishes to your collection. Unfortunately, I don’t think it is sold in many countries. If you know of any website that delivers this product internationally, please comment below and let me know.

Are you a fan of the matte look? What are your favourite matte top coats?

Makeup Expiry

I picked up ‘Tea Petal’ blush by MAC yesterday. I realised this morning that I was sold an expired product when I found some spots on the surface of the product, after which I checked the ‘date of manufacture’ on the box. I do love MAC cosmetics but selling an expired product reflects poorly on the company’s recycling policy and on the incompetency of the staff. I must say I am pretty annoyed that I have to go back again to get it exchanged but I’m glad I din’t use it on my face.

Do you remember to check the ‘Date of Manufacture’ everytime you purchase a product?

Bronzed summer makeup

Offlate, I been in love with the Sleek eyeshadow palettes. The ‘Oh so special’ palette to be specific. I think the colors work well together to create both day and night looks. I put together a bronze summer-y look using the palette. Here is a link to the video and the product list can be found in the description box. Enjoy watching and be sure to subscribe!
